Astrology & The Learned
Long before science came into being, astrology was used to understand the relationship between the position of the Earth and the position of the heavenly bodies. It was also used to navigating the seas — because, our ancients thought our Earth was flat!
Do you know that in ancient civilisations, astrology and astronomy were united — as one subject? What’s more, it is evident that people, who studied astrology in man’s early days, as is the case today, were the educated. To study and practice astrology, they had to understand astronomy, mathematics, spiritual and mystical meanings, and, most importantly, human nature. In the course of time, astrology developed into an incredibly complex subject and practice.
Astrology was taught in the universities till the 16th century. Ironically, the study of astrology at the seats of learning declined with the emergence of rational science during the Renaissance Movement.
Most astrologers today, as you would know, are highly educated. They often hold college degrees in different fields. They understand human psychology and counselling. In addition to this, they have a good understanding of spirituality. Need we say more? |
Before & After Freud
Sigmund Freud, the plumber of the human mind, as you know, was the first to reveal our unconscious, or the hidden self. His theories on the subject were a landmark — a revolutionary idea. However, they did nothing to excite astrologers who, for centuries, have studied the effects of our hidden self.
Astrology does not refer to the unconscious as such, even though it can unveil things about yourself, which you may not be aware of. It also does what therapy can do for you — “tap” your childhood characteristics, dreams, and “concealed” fears, including your secrets. But, quite unlike therapy, astrology can draw these inferences by just looking at your birth chart alone! |
