Indian Astrology — The Ancient Science Comes Alive!
Acknowledged to be one of the oldest, most accurate, reliable, and consistent form of astrology all over the world, Indian astrology is a natural cosmic science.
The system is based on real astronomy, in an ancient heritage where astrology is studied and practiced earnestly.
Needless to say, Indian astrology is a great contribution by itself not just to Indian culture, but for the entire world. Another big advantage is — Indian astrology prides itself to being very predictive in nature. This makes it a handy tool that presents you the means and possibilities to face the future in a manner that can balance impending dangers or obstacles that may be in-waiting in your passageway to success.
According to experts, the Vedas, said to be the oldest spiritual literature available to man, has references to astrological science — "Jyothisha or astrology" — dating back to 1,500 BCE. Researchers also observe that the ancient Hindus were the original masters — they developed a detailed study of astronomy, including many rituals and religious practices related to planetary positions and movements.
No small wonder that long before the era of Kepler, Copernicus, Galileo and other legendary astronomers, the Hindu sages had delved deep into the vast expanse of astrology and had immense knowledge of our stellar or planetary universe.
Indian Astrology — Schools
Indian Astrology has three main branches of study.
The first school, Siddanta, is related to astronomical study of celestial bodies.
Samhita deals with routine astrology, including the forecast of disasters such as earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, rainfall, weather conditions, economics, and also sunspots.
The Hora school is related to “Phalitha Jyothisha.” This is keyed to predictions. The school has six sub-divisions — Jathaka [horoscope], Gola, Prasna, Nimitta, Muhurta and Ganitha [mathematics].
Besides planetary interpretations, Indian astrology also prides itself with what is referred to as the Nadi [Pulse reading] system. This fascinating school provides pen -portraits of life and destiny patterns of people born at 12, 24, and 48 second intervals.
Nadi literature is written on palm leaves. Although it is highly evolved, there are only a handful of experts who can read and understand its many distinctions. Under a master, the results and predictions are remarkably accurate.
Indian Astrology — Summary
Indian astrology consists of 27 constellations in 12 lunar mansions.
It also takes into account the movements of two luminaries, Sun and Moon, the five major planets — Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury — and, the two nodal points of the Moon — Rahu and Ketu. Their positions are also accurately determined.
Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus, are not just as much recognised as the Moon. The Moon is considered to be a very significant planet for predictions, despite it being only a satellite of the Earth.
The Moon, at the time of birth, is found in a particular position, or in a particular star. This is accounted as the star of the person born.
The configuration is used to figure out the major and not-so-major stages of the person’s life.
